KARACHI, May 11: The Aurat Foundation has planned peaceful demos across Sindh on Monday against the arrest and manhandling of more than 20 women rights leaders, including Anis Haroon and Nighat Saeed while they were protesting against extremism in Lahore on Friday.

The NGO deplored that police baton-charged the protesting women, dragged many of them and took them away.

The protesters, members and supporters of the Women Action Forum, Lahore, had held a peaceful demo outside the house of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain over his so-called talks with the administration of the Jamia Hafsa, it noted, adding: “The action clearly shows that the government has surrendered before terrorists and is now tormenting peaceful citizens,” said the NGO spokesman.
