KARACHI, May 9: The Sindh High Court building was vacated soon after an anonymous call was received by the building-in-charge that a powerful bomb was planted in the building.

General Secretary of the Sindh High Court Bar Association Munir-ur-Rehman told Dawn that all the SHC members, lawyers and staff were informed about the call and the building was vacated.

He said the bomb disposal squad and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the spot and thoroughly checked all the courtrooms and various corridors of the building and declared that it was a hoax.

He said it was a `devil’s work’ that troubled the people and disrupted the court proceedings. He condemned the incident and termed it against humanity.

Meanwhile, Assistant Sessions Judge (South) Raana Zaki Shamsi on Wednesday lodged an FIR (No 52/07) with police at the City Courts police station that she had been receiving life threats by telephone for the last few days. The police registered the case under Section 506,507 B.—A Reporter
