ISLAMABAD, May 7: Yaqoob Moosa struck two goals as Pakistan defeated India 3-1 in a format-II match of the AFC Under-13 Festival of Football at the Bangladesh Institute of Sports, Dhaka, on Monday.

Yaqoob opened the scoring in the 18th minute of the match and doubled the lead with lovely strike in the 29th minute.

India scored their only goal in the 35th minute.

Ahmad Faheem scored the winners’ third goal in the 48th minute.

Earlier, in a format-I match, Pakistan held super-fit Iran to a 0-0 draw. They had also played 0-0 draw against Kyrgyzstan on the opening day.

They had overcome Turkmenistan (2-1) and Bhutan (2-0); but lost to Uzbekistan 1-2 and Tajikistan 0-2.

The event began on Friday with 12 teams — Bhutan, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Bangladesh — competing.—PPI
