Father ‘kidnaps’ children

SAHIWAL, May 7: A man along with his 21 accomplices `kidnapped’ his two children from the custody of policemen who had recovered them on the orders of a district and sessions judge here on Monday.

Reports said one Sarwar Bibi of Harappa in her petition to the Sahiwal district and sessions judge prayed for the recovery of her six-month-old twins Aisha Sana and Hassan Raza. A police party, led by ASI Falak Sher, recovered the children from the custody of their father Jan Muhammad at Thatta Bahadur Singh and was on its way back when Jan Muhammad and his accomplices attacked the police and snatched the kids.

The accused also took away Rs10,000 and a mobile phone from ASI Falak Sher. Later, Noorshah police rushed to the spot and recovered the twins from Jan Muhammad.

Police have registered a case under Sections 382, 353, 363, 186, 148 and 149 of the PPC against 22 accused. Some of them have been identified as Jan Muhammad, Imdad Khalid, Maqbool, Liaquat, Shaukat, Abdul Sattar, Ghaffar, Hamaad Asif, Zakir Husain, Zahoor Ahmed, Ashraf Bibi and Gallan. The court handed over Aisha Sana and Hassan Raza to Sarwar Bibi. However, no arrests were made.
