LONDON, May 6: Yorkshire were knocked off the top of the English County Championship Division One table as Hampshire clung on for a draw at the Rose Bowl on Saturday.
Set a huge 443 to win, Hampshire were 336-8 when Shane Warne was dismissed with almost 14 overs to spare.
But Nic Pothas (76 not out) batted out time with Stuart Clark to end the visitors' 100 per cent start to the season.
Younis Khan’s four for 52 added to his feat of becoming the only player in Yorkshire history to score a double century and a century in the same game.
Warwickshire continued their good start to the Championship campaign with an innings and 113-run win over Worcestershire.
Dale Steyn ended with eight wickets in the match and Naqqash Tahir recorded six.
Northamptonshire recorded their first Championship victory of the season with a six-wicket win over high-flying Essex.
Somerset and Derbyshire had to settle for a draw after a high-scoring match at Taunton.
The home side managed to reach 530 from their overnight total in response to Derbyshire's huge 801.
It was a feat they achieved with relative ease thanks mainly to an unbeaten 136 from former Australian Test opener Justin Langer.
