LAHORE, May 6: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf chairperson Imran Khan has congratulated the people of Punjab for giving the chief justice a rousing reception during his travel from Rawalpindi to Lahore to address the Lahore High Court Bar Association.

In a press statement released here on Sunday, the PTI chief also lauded the people of Lahore who waited for more than 25 hours to hear the CJP’s address.

He said the way the people braved the harsh weather in demonstrating solidarity with the lawyers’ unprecedented struggle for the return of democracy, the restoration of the Constitution, freedom of judiciary and other state institutions, was a referendum against the regime which must now step down.

Mr Khan, who remained present near Data Darbar till the morning along with hundreds of party workers, visited the LHCBA’s reception camp at 7.30am before he returned home.

Party’s Punjab president Ahsan Rashid and other leaders, including Javed Iqbal, Amn Zaki, Saloni Bokhari and Shabbir Sayal, also remained present with him.
