KARACHI, May 6: Any incident of fire in the most congested residential and commercial areas of the city, Saddar, may put lives and properties of thousands of citizens in jeopardy as two of the three tenders at Saddar fire brigade station are out of order, said KMC Fire Brigade Labour Union leader Gohar Khan.

Talking to firemen during his visit to the Saddar fire brigade station, he said VVIP locations of Governor’s House, Chief Minister’s House, Qasre Naz, Army House, Sindh Assembly Building, Sindh Secretariat, railway station, five-star hotels and many busy markets are in the jurisdiction of Saddar fire brigade station. He said the presence of out-of-order tenders in this sensitive fire brigade station could not be justified.

He charged that mismanagement and corruption was rampant and private vehicles were being allowed parking in the fire brigade station area.

He urged the higher authorities to take notice of the situation and ensure early repair of the fire tenders.—PPI
