Race-goers’ plea

Published May 6, 2007

KARACHI, May 5: The surroundings of betting area at the Karachi Racecourse are in fairly poor condition and need immediate facelift to save people from dirty and unhygienic environment.

The race-goers alleged that KRC high ups have paid no heed towards carpeting a section of the floor after laying stones for the last several months thus making it difficult for them to walk.

The benches which are little in number in front of canteen remain dirty most of the time and the visitors who pay Rs156 every weekend as entry fee are at the mercy of KRC. In the absence of dustbins, people are compelled to throw waste eatables on the floor.

“The rates of different eatable items in the canteen are also exorbitant,” said a punter.

Similarly, there are no arrangements of dusting the benches in the stand despite the fact that a large workforce is employed.—AZ
