BADIN, May 4: Growers of Badin have demanded of the government to waive off the agricultural loans as the district had been devastated by natural calamities.

According to Abdul Jabbar Gopang, Mohammad Khan Sarejo and others, black clouds roam over the district as it had been declared calamity-hit 16 times over the past many years. They said that though Badin and Thatta both districts were badly hit in the last floods and rains but loan up to Rs200,000 of only Thatta growers were waived off.

Badin, which too was declared calamity-hit was deprived of any such package, they said and called for the attention of the government towards the hope of Badin people who were sure President Musharraf will visit and announce a package soon.

The farmers said the president on his visit to Naukot may consider the plea of Badin growers and fulfill their longstanding demand.
