MIRPURKHAS, May 4: Shortage of vegetables, meat and milk have been created in the city following the impounding of vehicles including trucks, buses, coaches, coasters and pickups by the police for transportation of people to the public meeting of General Pervez Musharraf to be held at Naukot town.

Reports said that public transport is missing from the roads in the district Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Sanghar and Tharparkar since three days following the impounding of large number of vehicles by police.

Due to the non-availability of transport, animals including goats, cows, sheep are not transported to cities and towns for sale. The situation has also affected the supply of meat, milk, vegetables and created shortage of essential items.

Taxi drivers are charging extra fare to transport the people from one place to another.
