KARACHI, May 3: The Sindh Minister for Environment and Alternate Energy, Dr Saghir Ahmed, said on Thursday that checking of banned polythene bags at all entry points of the city had been made strict so that the ban could not be violated in any way.

Issuing directives to the DG Environment, he said the department would soon hold a public hearing to seek suggestions from public for making ban on less than 30-micron polythene bags more effective and ensure a pollution-free environment. He assured that suggestions given by all stakeholders would be given due importance.

The minister said that the violators of Section 144 were being dealt strictly. He said that help and coordination of citizens and trader was praiseworthy in this regard.—PPI
