Advocate’s brother kidnapped

SAHIWAL, Feb 27: Seven car riders on Wednesday kidnapped the brother of a local advocate from the eastern gate of district courts.

Haroon Afzal and his younger brother Nauman Afzal, a second year student, were on way home by their car when armed men riding in two cars stopped them. They kidnapped Afzal after injuring Haroon, Fahad Sohail and Muhammad Sajjad. They also resorted to aerial firing before fleeing.

It is learnt that the two parties had an old enmity.

On the report of Haroon, Civil Line police have registered a case against Naurez Sohail, Imran Butt, Faisal Butt, Azhar Butt, Sheikh Kashif, Saghir Shah and Tanveer Butt.

DEATH AWARDED: A local court on Wednesday awarded death sentence to a convict and 25-year hard jail to his accomplice in a murder case.

The court acquitted the co-accused for the lack of evidence.

According to the prosecution, Zareena along with her lover Muhammad Ashraf had shot dead her brother, Allah Ditta, on June 30, 1999.
