Five die as bus plunges into ditch

SARGODHA, Feb 27: Five people, including two women, were killed while seven others were injured in a road accident near Bhera, some 60km from here, on Tuesday evening.

A bus was on its way to Bhera from Jhawarian. Near Chak Ramdar Jedi bridge, it went out of control and plunged into a ditch. Azra, Rehmat Bibi, Ejaz, Riaz and Shahid died on the spot, while seven other passengers sustained injuries.

CRUSHED: One Zarina Bibi was crushed to death by a speeding wagon on the Sargodha-Ajnala road.

On the same road, a wagon collided with another vehicle causing serious injuries to Riaz and Yaqoob.

IRRIGATION SCHEME: The phase-I of the Mahar irrigation scheme will be completed during the current year with a cost of Rs55 million, and will be made operative from June, 2003.

This was stated by district Nazim Ehsanullah Tiwana. He said the phase-II would be completed with a cost of Rs140 million.
