Five minors hurt amid celebration

SIALKOT, Feb 27: Five minors sustained injuries on Wednesday when a guest at a marriage ceremony shot in the air to celebrate in Kotli Murlan village (Motra), tehsil Daska.

The procession reached Kotli Murlan village from Burj village when Arshad shot in the air. Busy frolicking, Tazeemullah, 8, Sharafat Ali, 7, Aliya, 7, Waqas Ashraf, 6, and Ali Raza, 6, received injuries. They were taken to the Daska Civil Hospital in precarious condition.

Motra police have registered a case.

FIRING: The Indian security forces continued intensified firing in Chhumb, Joriyan, Bajwat, Sucheetgarh, Akhnor and Shakargarh sectors of the Sialkot working boundary.

Officials sources confirmed on Wednesday the firing disrupted sowing of sunflower crops.

No casualty has yet been reported.

LAID TO REST: Scores of people attended the funeral prayers of Sialkot elite force’s two officials in the Police Lines on Wednesday.

Zahid Ikram and Amjad Khan were killed in an encounter with proclaimed offenders in Kamalpur Aadam Draz village, Motra, Daska tehsil, late on Tuesday.

Later, they were laid to rest in their native graveyards.

Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Daud Ahmad Chattha and SVP Naveed Iqbal Shaikh announced Rs150,000 compensation each for the heirs.

Sialkot SSP Muhammad Tahir identified the only PO shot dead as Zahid alias Zahidu in the two-hour encounter. The other PO arrested was Amanullah alias Manu.

On the report of SHO Abdul Hamid Warraich, the Motra police have registered a case against Zahid and Amanullah.
