KARACHI, April 30: The annual convocation-2007 of the University of Karachi was held on Monday. A total of 1,220 students who graduated in 2005 and 2006 batches were conferred degrees.

Besides, 156 gold medals and 95 PhD degrees in various disciplines were awarded at the convocation.

KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui congratulated the recipients of the gold medals and degrees, and felicitated their parents on this happy occasion.

He impressed upon the graduating youngsters to continue to pursue knowledge in order to enhance their capabilities.

He pointed out that all out efforts were being made towards the promotion of scientific research and studies at the campus.

As an incentive to those students who were maintaining first class first position throughout their academic career and also qualified the GRE test, he said that the University of Karachi, in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission, had plans for their studies abroad.—APP
