MIANWALI, April 25: A murder convict was executed here on Wednesday morning at the central jail.
Reports said Muhammad Malook of Chak 73-TDA, Bhakkar district, had shot dead his four relatives Sajida, Amina, Akbar Ali and Manzoor Husain on suspicion of illicit relations in 1996 in Sarai-Muhajir police precincts.
A Sargodha anti-terrorism court (ATC) had awarded death sentence to Malook. The Lahore High Court and the Supreme Court had upheld the ATC’s decision.
The President of Pakistan had twice granted 15-day stay on the plea of reconciliation but Malook’s third mercy appeal was rejected after the deceased’s heirs declined to compromise.
The ATC had fixed April 25 date for his execution. Malook’s body was handed over to his parents on Wednesday.
In another case, execution of Azhar Munir of Sargodha was stayed on Wednesday after the president extended 15-day stay for reconciliation. He too had availed two chances for patch-up. He will be executed on May 9 as the complainant did not pardon the convict till the last report.
Azhar Munir had killed youth Waqas three years back.
