KARACHI, April 25: Chairman of the Sindh National Front Sardar Mumtaz Ali Khan Bhutto has said he sees similarity between the prevailing situation and the last days of General Ayub Khan’s era.

“Government’s writ is felt nowhere in the country while people have taken to the streets like they did in those days,” he pointed out in a statement issued here on Wednesday.

Sardar Bhutto observed that the country had sustained a huge loss in trade and people were running from pillar to post seeking justice amid the prevailing judicial crisis.

Price hike, unemployment, lawlessness, corruption, water and power crises and many other problems had already made common man’s life miserable, he added, and claimed that the government had totally failed to control the situation.

He further observed that the rulers now stood isolated in the political arena as their supporters — turncoats, corrupt and hypocrites — had also left them alone. The US was also withdrawing its support and this was the main reason that they were now attempting a deal with the PPP.—PPI
