KARACHI, April 23: More than 250 patients suffering from scabies were treated and provided medicines at a free medical camp held at Bilqees Edhi Hospital, Moosa Lane, Lyari Town.

Dr Imtiaz Memon, a senior medical officer of Lyari General Hospital, said scabies had been spreading because of un-hygienic living conditions in the locality.

According to him, it is spreading fast in the poor localities such as Kalri, Shah Beg Lane, Daryabad and some other parts of the town due to insanitary conditions.

He said people did not have awareness about the disease which could be easily prevented and treated if timely steps were taken.

He stressed the need for creating awareness among the people by launching a massive campaign through seminars and holding meetings in every Mohalla. He said the NGOs could play an effective role in this regard.

The medical camp was organised by Edhi Welfare Foundation with the help of Rotary Club of Karachi.
