GUJRANWALA, April 16: The mother of Sibtul Hassan alias Double Shah has got distributed pamphlets in Wazirabad and other areas assuring depositors that their money would be returned.

In her message to depositors, she said Shah’s family would honour the commitments.

She alleged that local political leaders, who were afraid of her son’s popularity in the area, had actually got him arrested.

COURT: The local anti-terrorism court on Monday asked the investigating officer to have conman Sibtul Hassan medically examined from the DHQ Hospital.

Judge Tariq Iftikhar Ahmad issued the order after defence counsel Amir Munir Bagri, Irfan Muzaffar Cheema, Anjum Sohail Butt and Sohail Ahmad Warriach said that their client was ill and needed treatment.

They also complained that cases against the accused had been registered by Wazirabad police but he had been detained in Gujranwala.

Police, they said, was not giving them access to their client and was using third-degree methods during interrogation.

POLICE PROBE: The Punjab police top brass is investigating alleged links of some policemen with Shah’s network.

Sources said a number of officials got their money doubled from Shah and in a way gave protection to his system of parallel banking.
