KARACHI, April 15: Bowlers prevailed over the batsmen as no less than 19 wickets fell on the opening day of the Pentangular Cup match between Habib Bank and Sindh at the UBL Sports Complex here on Sunday.

After electing to bat first, Habib Bank were dismissed for 191 inside 56 overs. But they hit back strongly to have Sindh tottering at 109 for nine when stumps were drawn on an eventful day.

Skipper Shahid Afridi provided some entertained with his big-hitting. The Pakistan all-rounder bludgeoned five sixes and three sixes in scoring 58 off 47 balls.

Slow left-armer Azam Hussain (4-46) and leg-spinner Rizwan Ahmed (3-11) excelled for Sindh.

Pakistan spinner Abdur Rehman bagged four for 44 in Sindh’s first innings as only Rizwan managed to put up a fight with an unbeaten 46, which included seven fours and one six.
