GUJRANWALA/SIALKOT, April 15: Twelve sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors of two Wazirabad police stations were transferred on Sunday.

Even though senior police officers called the mass transfers of policemen from Wazirabad City and Sadar police stations a routine matter, insiders revealed that the move was linked to their nexus with Sibtul Hasan Shah, alias Double Shah, and their failure to control violent protests by Shah’s clients after his arrest.

Police arrested Shah on April 13 for a number of offences.

Shah had attracted thousands of clients during the last one year for his scheme offering a 100 per cent profit in 70 days on sums deposited with him.

Scores of clients of the arrested Double Shah held anti-government protests in Sambrial, Sialkot, on Sunday. Protesters said they feared the government’s action against Shah would put their savings at stake.

Protesters urged the government to plan an effective strategy for the safe return of their money.
