KARACHI, April 15: Sindh Minister for Tourism, Culture and Social Welfare Rauf Siddiqui, who also heads the Sindh Food Support Programme’s steering committee, has expressed his displeasures over that 16 DCOs’ district nazims’ failure in disbursing Baitul Maal funds, amounting to more than Rs80 million, among poor and deserving people.

Presiding over a meeting of the steering committee here on Saturday, he directed the DCOs and nazims, including those of Karachi, to ensure disbursement of the funds within the next seven days.

He called for a report in this regard and warned of action against the officials responsible for any negligence.

The minister said that the Baitul Maal funds were released for quick disbursement among deserving people by post but the funds were still lying with the district governments concerned while the poor were waiting for their due share.

The 16 districts identified are Karachi, Badin, Dadu, Ghotki, Jacobabad, Jamshoro, Kashmore, Qambar, Larkana, Mithi, Matiari, Naushehro Feroze, Nawabshah, Shikarpur, Tando Allahyar and Umerkot.
