JACOBABAD, April 14: Sindh chief minister’s monitoring committee on education and works has revealed in its report that around 50 per cent middle and primary schools remain closed in Jacobabad district, while the staff draws their salaries, regularly. The staff, it further informed, is mostly engaged in their private businesses. Ameeruddin Buriro, a member of the committee stated this in a report on Saturday. The team is led by Haji Ghulam Rasool Khuhro.

The team, Buriro briefed the reporters, visited primary, middle, high, higher secondary, colleges, both boys and girls throughout the district, including the government high schools Khuda Bux Noonari, the GHS Bahoo Khoso, the GHS Karim Bux Khoso, the GHS Diya, Thul, the GHS Bahaledinoabad, the GHS Nawra, the GHS Phunoo Dhatti. There the teachers were found absent with a thin attendance of students.The government middle school Abdul Ghani Shah, GMS Azizabad, government girls middle school Mohammadpur Odho, GGMS Meeranpur Buriro, GGMS Bhaledinoabad were found closed on surprise visits wherein 300 teachers were suspended who later were reappointed.

The convener said the committee members were appointed by the chief minister and were working on honorary basis. They complained the behaviour and non-cooperation attitude of the EDO education. He was reluctant to extend any cooperation to them, hence the committee faced difficulties.

They have written time and again to the EDO to provide them with the monthly copies of bills, the SMC funds’ detailed reports, promotion and budget reports but he turned a deaf ear to all.

Besides, vacancies or positions are not announced properly, they concluded.
