KARACHI, Oct 19: Afghanistan got on scoresheets when they secured three first innings lead points after their two-day Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Grade-II match against Northern Areas Cricket Association ended in a draw Friday.

The tourists, who dismissed their opponents for 163 on the opening day, resumed this morning at 140 and two before declaring their innings at 261 for seven.

When the match ended at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar, Northern Areas Cricket Association were 148 for seven and just 27 runs ahead.

Aghanistan’s batting revolved around a 136-run third wicket stand between Mohammad Alam and Rehmat Wali. Alam stroked 85 while Rehmat scored 72.

Rehmat later added 60 runs for the fifth wicket with Shafi-ur-Rehman who contributed 45.

For Northern Areas Cricket Association, paceman Shah Laeeq picked up three wickets for 75 runs.

Afghanistan skipper Allah Dad Noori, in a post-match interview with APP, said he was satisfied over the result. He said his team played well and the batsmen and bowlers showed their full strength.

“With every day passing, the performance of the boys will get better and better. I hope the team will give good performence in other fixtures,” he added.
