KARACHI, April 10: The Additional District and Session Judge, South, Sher Bano Karim, awarded seven years rigorous imprisonment to Mohammad Abid for his involvement in street crimes.

Abid, son of Bashir, was arrested by police in 2003 for his involvement in street crimes including snatching cash and mobile phones in different areas.

Besides, the seven years rigorous imprisonment, the court also fined him Rs5,000. In case of non-payment he will have to undergo an additional six month imprisonment.

NBW: Senior civil judge and judicial magistrate central Alia Latif issued non-bailable warrants of a police inspector for non-compliance of court’s orders.

Inspector Suhail Ahmed of New Karachi Police Station was bound to appear in the court as witness in a street crime case of 2006 against an accused Shahid and his accomplices, but he was not obeying the court order, it was observed.

The court issued directives to the concerned officials to stop his monthly salary, arrest him forthwith and produce in the court on April 19.
