HYDERABAD, April 8: Ghulam Hussain Solangi a teacher at the Government High School Johi, warned on Sunday that he would commit self-immolation in front of the offices of DPO of Dadu if police did not disclose the whereabouts of his son arrested more than a week ago.

Mr Solangi, of Noorani Chowk, said at a news conference at the press club that police raided his house on March 25 and pressured them to withdraw a case and return the agreement his son Ali Asgahr had signed with one Ghulam Mohiuddin Qureshi for the purchase of a plot of land in Jagatabad near Noorani Chowk.

Police registered a false case against him, his son Ali Asghar and Shahid, a witness to the agreement on March 30, 2007, but arrested another son Mir Mohammad who was not even nominated in the FIR. Police had since then not disclosed his whereabouts, he said.

Ali Asghar had purchased the plot for Rs200,000. Under the agreement, he paid Rs150,000 in cash and committed to pay the remaining amount six months later at the time of transfer of the property to his name, Mr Solangi said.

But the seller started dilly-dallying on transfer of property on pretext or the other and compelled his son to take the matter to court.

He filed a civil suit (No.3/2006) in the court of civil judge of Dadu which was still pending, he said.

The father said that he had submitted applications to the authorities concerned but nobody paid any heed to his anguish and his son was still missing. He warned that if he did not get justice he would set himself ablaze before the office of DPO Dadu.

STP: Sindh Taraqqi-Pasand Party Chairman Dr. Qadir Magsi has criticised the shifting of the offices of Manjhand taluka to Sann and demanded that the government take back its decision.

Talking to a delegation of Awami Ittehad from Manjhand at Taraqqi-Pasand House on Sunday Mr Magsi said that the shifting of offices was a great injustice with the people of Manjhand and adjoining villages.

The delegation that comprised Gotam Channa, Mohammad Saleh Memon and Shabbir Magsi informed the STP chairman that the decision was politically motivated.
