QUETTA, April 6: Police on Friday arrested a proclaimed offender involved in various sectarian killings. Sources said that a contingent of CID police raided a place in Mastung and arrested Ishaq Malik. He belongs to the Lashkar-i-Jhangvi organisation.

“Yes, CID men have arrested a proclaimed offender involved in various sectarian killings and other attacks in Quetta,” Inspector-General of Police Tariq Masood Khosa said.

He said the man had killed Pir Bhoral Shah and attacked senior police officer Nisar Kazmi some time ago.

He said the court had already declared him an absconder in connection with the sectarian incidents and the government had announced one million rupees as head money after declaring him a proclaimed offender.

“A special team of senior police officers was interrogating him,” Mr Khosa said.

He said that an attack on police van two days was a terrorist act in which a police constable was killed and another received serious injuries.

Mr Khosa said the terrorists involved in the killing of a policeman and grenade attack on a police mobile would be arrested soon.
