KARACHI, March 30: Residents of various localities in the metropolis complained of intermittent and prolonged power suspensions on Friday. A resident of Karachi University Staff Colony said that power supply to the locality was suspended at 10.10am and was restored at 11.30am. He said that it was again suspended for another two hours at 3pm.

A caller from North Karachi’s Water Pump Chowrangi said that the area remained without electricity for three hours from 11am, adding that power supply was suspended at different times regularly after 8pm. She said that sometimes the period of power suspension was prolonged to the morning and people were unable to fill overhead water tanks.

A complainant from Manghopir Road MPR Colony said that besides power suspensions, the area people were facing low voltage since long. He said that the population around the Rural Health Centre, MPR Colony was worst hit. He added that there was only one PMT in the area, which always remained overloaded, causing frequent power disruptions.

A caller from Gulistan-i-Jauhar Block 7 said that power supply played hide and seek the whole day. He said that officials of Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) were requested time and again to install power meters at the residences, but the process, he said, was very slow. He also asked for installation of street lights in the locality.
