39 boys selected for U-16 camp

KARACHI, Oct 19: After extensive trials, selectors have picked 39 under-16 probables for future selection of Pakistan Junior team for the 2005 World Cup Hockey Cup to undergo a week training camp which commences at Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium from Oct 22.

According to a press release Friday 80 players from across Sindh appeared in the three-day trials which concluded at HCP Thursday.

The camp will be supervised by former Olympian and manager Pakistan Junior Team, Iftikhar Syed, Olympian Qamar Ibrahim and former international Jan Muhammad.

The following selected boys are advised to report at HCP on Oct 22 at 2.30pm along with two shirts, coloured and white.

Goalkeepers: Noman Ahmed, Qurban Ali, M.Bilal (Khi), Shakil Ahmed (Lrk). Right full back: Adnan Rashid, Ammar Raza (Khi) Junaid Hussain (Hyd).

Left full-backs: Adnan Hamid (Hyd), Muhamad Hanif, Athar Hussain (Khi). Right Half: Wasim Akhtar, Wasif Khan, Ziaul Haq (Khi).

Centre-half: Irfan Anjum, Junaid Iqbal, Naeem Waheed (Khi).

Left-halves: Shahbaz Mazhar, Tahir Shuja, Irfan Ahmed, Amjad Hussain (Khi).

Outside-lefts: Fazal-ur-Rehman, Imran Khan (Khi) Ashiq (Lrk).

Inside-rights: Asif Aslam, Imran Khan, Muhammad Ali Khan (Khi), Irsalan (Lrk). Centre forward: Shabbir Ahmed, A.Imran Khan, A. Hasim Khan (Khi) Qamar Wahid (Hyd).

Inside-lefts: Iftikhar, Irfan Ali Khan, Arif Haneef, Wasif Raza (Khi). Outside left: S.Abbas Haider, A.Faheem Khan, Noman Zakir (Khi), Riasat Ali (Mrk).

Imran Warsi, Adnan Zahid, Sumair and Mudassar who were already selected for under-16 are also asked to report for the camp.—APP
