UBAURO, March 29: Two people, including a former UC nazim, reportedly died in scuffle with police and hundreds of others arrested when thousands of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and Hur Jamaat activists held a protest demonstration and blocked traffic on the National Highway at Sindh-Punjab border near Kamu Shaheed area on Thursday.
A convoy comprising tens of thousands of PML-F and Hur jamaat activists from Sukkur and Ghotki districts demonstrated when Punjab police stopped them at Sindh-Punjab border from proceeding to Punjab to participate in a public meeting in Rahimyar Khan to accord welcome to newly-elected PML-F Punjab President and former District Nazim of Rahimyar Khan Makhdoom Syed Ahmed Mahmood.
The police blocked the border and stopped them from proceeding to Punjab. In reaction, the Hurs staged a sit-in on the highway and blocked traffic for eight hours.
