GUJRANWALA, March 29: The food department would construct storages in remote areas to stock the wheat instead of keeping it in open fields. This was stated by Punjab Food Minister Husain Jehanian Gardezi while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Green Valley here on Thursday.

He said wheat could be secured for three years in these storages.

Mr Gardezi said storages would be constructed in the areas where godowns were not available.

He said every grain of wheat would be procured at the fixed price of Rs425 per 40 kilograms.

APPOINTED: The Punjab chief minister nominated Sidra Javed, the sister of slain provincial minister Zile Huma Usman, the president of PML women wing in Gujranwala district.

This was stated by Punjab PML general secretary Chaudhry Zaheeruddin Khan in a press release issued here on Thursday.

He expressed the hope that Ms Sidra would play an active role in organisation of women wing.
