LAHORE, March 29: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf chairman Imran Khan urged on Thursday all opposition parties to tender resignation, saying it was the right time to remove all their differences.

Mr Khan said at the Lahore High Court Bar Association that those who were trying to create rifts among lawyers were actually helping Gen Musharraf.

He said the lawyers’ historic protest could ensure independent judiciary, real democracy and supremacy of law for the first time in the country.

Mr Khan said the ongoing judicial crisis had led the country to a defining moment and lauded the lawyers for their struggle against dictatorship.

He warned political parties of making any deal with Gen Musharraf for personal gains. He said the dream of real democracy could not come true without independent judiciary.

He alleged that the government comprised the most corrupt people who plundered public money.

TOKEN STRIKE: Lawyers on Thursday continued a one-hour token strike and set up hunger strike camps against the suspension of Chief Justice of Pakistan.

After the strike, they appeared in courts wearing black armbands.

The Save Judiciary Committee continued its hunger strike camp on the LHCBA premises while the Lahore Bar Association at Aiwan-i-Adal and also announced setting up these camps on Friday (today).

Mr Khan also visited the hunger strike camp and expressed solidarity with the lawyers.
