KARACHI, March 29: Pasban-i-Aza on Thursday urged the authorities to uncover who was misleading or using the Islamabad madressah girl students, who was encouraging them to take the law into their own hands, and to probe what their real intentions were.

In a statement issued here, Pasban-i-Aza chief S. M. Haider said that if illegal activities were going on somewhere, then the government should take action and restore its writ, which it seems unable to enforce even in the federal capital.

He said that not only had so-called religious people issued warnings to video shop owners, they had also kidnapped women accusing them of being involved in immoral activities. He condemned the government, which calls itself the protector of women’s rights, for remaining silent over the kidnappings.

He said that it is surprising the government took action against the chief justice of the country and also attacked the media, yet the people who kidnapped women and a six-month old child still were roaming free.

He said that the government, to restore its writ, should take action against all those who have taken the law into their hands.
