KARACHI, March 29: The Judicial Magistrate South First, Aurangzeb Alamgir Qazi, raided Chakiwara Police Station on Thursday and recovered a man who was kept in illegal confinement for the last three days.

The raid was conducted on an application submitted to District and Sessions Judge South, Mr Zaheer Ahmed Leghari by Mohammad Ishaq brother of Asif Ishaq stating that his brother was kept by the police in habeas corpus and they were demanding money for his release. The applicant requested the court to secure his brother’s release and provide him justice.

When the raid was conducted there was no record of Asif’s arrest, nor any other evidence of his involvement in criminal activities.

The JM sealed the relevant record and directed the Station House Officer (SHO) to personally produce the accused in his court today (Friday).

The SHO was not available for comments.

However, another official, who identified himself as Sub-Inspector Aijaz said that FIR No 7/04 was registered against Asif under Sections 392 and 398.
