SWABI, Feb 25: The National Database and Registration Authority has committed errors in a number of computerized identity cards so far issued, information collected from different areas and circles shows.

A constable Sher Azam Khan, resident of Maneri Bala, Naro Banda, has been issued his identity card No 16201-0691745-1 in which he is shown a resident of tehsil Chotta Lahore, instead of tehsil Swabi, to which he actually belongs.

Ex-employee Rozam Khan, son of Azeem Khan, of the same area, disclosed that instead of his real name, Rokham Khan had been mentioned in the identity card he had been issued (No 16202-886317-7).

Two lapses have been committed in the identity card issued to Amtiya (No 16202-0858262-8). Her name has been written as Aatiba while that of her husband Fausoon Khan, instead of Faujoon Khan. She queried: “Now where should I go to get my card corrected?”

The name of another lady, Gul Har Begum, wife of Bakhat Sher, has been written as Gul Bahar Begum while the name of Bibi’s husband has been shown as Zakha Khan. His real name is Zajar Khan.

“Instead of getting an error-free card through a computerised arrangement, I have got a headache,” Zajar Khan said.

The name of Waqif Khan, resident of Gar Maneri, has been shown as Muwaqif Khan. Similarly, the name of Banat Khan, son of Shamshad Khan has also been found incorrect.

A resident of Adina claimed that his name was shown as Janab Khan but his actual name is Hubab Khan. He said a number of such mistakes had crept into various identity cards issued to residents of the same locality.

Some residents of Naro Banda said their village name has been mistakenly shown as Baro Banda by the Nadra staff despite the fact they had clearly written the name of their village in the ID card forms.

These people, as well as union council Nazims, have appealed to the Nadra authorities to remove these errors and take action against the staff concerned as they had changed the identity of a number of people.
