Woman appeals for protection

MIRPURKHAS, March 28: President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz have been requested to provide protection to Ms Salma and her children against alleged criminals.

According to details Ms Salma, resident of Khipro town, currently residing in Jamnadas colony Mirpurkhas was intercepted in the Khipro court by Choto Jatt, Sattar Jatt, Habib Jatt and Yamin Jatt of Khipro town, district Sanghar. They have threatened her of dire consequences if she attended the court hearing.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, she said that she was residing in Khipro town along with her children. A property dispute was brewing between her relatives and the matter was pending adjudication.

The alleged criminals were harassing her children and witnesses also. As a result she had to shift to Mirpurkhas.

As she was going to Khipro to meet her sister these people intercepted her and warned her against going to the court on the date of hearing. They threatened to kill her.

She said that she had submitted a complaint before Khipro police station against them but in vain.

She demanded the Sindh Chief Minister, Governor and the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court to take action against them and transfer her case to district and sessions court Sanghar and provide justice to her.

WHEAT TARGET: Wheat sowing target for 2006-07 had been fixed at 48,000 hectares and the production at 144,000 metric tons in the district, said a handout issued by the EDO agriculture Mirpurkhas Dodo Khan Leghari, on Wednesday.

He said, wheat had been sown on 57,000 hectares which was in excess of the target and maximum production was expected after this.
