KARACHI, March 28: Residents of different localities in city on Wednesday complained of prolonged and intermittent power suspension. A resident of Yousuf Goth said that power supply to this locality was suspended at 9am and restored at 3.30pm.

He said KESC had been suspending power supply on a daily basis and its officials would not respond to their repeated complaints.

He said the indifferent attitude was resorted to because this was a backward locality dominated by low-income group.

A complainant from Malir said that power suspension in Malir district had become a daily routine. He said there was no justification for suspension of power supply running into many hours.

He argued that KESC could undertake all its major maintenance work once and for all in order to rid the consumers of power cuts every now and then.

A caller from Saeedabad, Baldia Town, said that power supply to the locality was suspended at 2pm and restored at 6pm on Wednesday.

She said that hours-long power failures every day had made consumers’ life miserable. She said that consumers in backward areas could not afford buying power generators. She also stated that the KESC’s ‘Helpline 118’ was hardly attended during power failure in the area.

Reports of power failures were also received from parts of Jamshed Town, Nazimabad, Clifton, Defence, Liaquatabad, Korangi, North Karachi and several other areas.
