HYDERABAD, March 28: The Mehran University of Engineering and Technology on Wednesday reacted to ongoing protests by the Jeay Sindh Students Federation (JSSF) against the vice-chancellor and dismissed the allegations levelled by JSSF as baseless.

A spokesman for the university said in a statement that the people who were protesting against the university had nothing to do with MUET.

He said that the university was an ISO-certified institution offering bachelor degree courses in 16 disciplines and rated as the biggest engineering university in Pakistan.

He said that the university’s status and credibility had been established as per the recent evaluation of public and private sector universities conducted by the HEC, which had rated MUET as number one engineering university in public sector universities of Sindh and number two among the public sector engineering universities of the country.
