KARACHI, March 26: Chief Secretary Shakeel Durrani has directed all relevant departments to ensure foolproof security and civic arrangements during the Eid Miladun Nabi (SAW) celebrations.

He issued the directives at a meeting held in his office. The chief secretary directed the home, and local government departments, police and all DCOs to provide all civic facilities to people on the occasion.

He noted that in addition to the general arrangements, specific action should be taken with regard to foolproof security, repair of damaged water and sewerage lines along the processions’ routes, availability of fire brigade and bomb disposal squad officials at all strategic points to meet any emergency.

He also ordered provision of availability of medical facilities at the hospitals under the management of provincial and district governments and availability of sufficient potable water at all venues of congregations. He said procession routes be maintained properly to ensure a smooth flow of processions.

The chief secretary issued directives for making proper lighting arrangements at and along the venues and routes of processions, congregations and other such activities in coordination with the KESC and Hesco officials.

He appealed to religious leaders and general public for their cooperation in maintaining peace across the province.

CCPO Karachi Azhar Ali Farooqui on Monday asked police officials to keep their intelligence network activated and ensure deployment of security personnel at the venues of religious gatherings.

He directed DIG (Operations), DIG (Traffic), TPOs, Zonal SSPs of traffic police, SDPOs, SHOs and officers of traffic sections to personally monitor the security arrangements.—PPI
