QUETTA, March 25: Provincial senior vice-president of the PML-N, Mir Gohar Khan Mengal, has appealed to the Balochistan High Court to take suo motu notice of the violation of its stay order by the authorities of Cantonment Board Quetta.

He said that despite the stay order, the Cantonment Board had demolished the house and dairy farm of Lala Nawaz Khan, father of Ayaz Khan Swati, provincial general-secretary of the party.

Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, he said the board authorities wanted to punish Mr Khan because he was father of PML-N’s provincial leader.

He pointed out that the board had, some 50 years ago, allowed Mr Nawaz to set up the dairy farm and build the house on the land. But a few years ago, the board increased the rent by 600 per cent. The high court granted a stay order and asked the board authorities not to take any action till a final verdict was given, he added.

Mr Gohar said that on Saturday staff of the board, led by Colonel Tabraz, started bulldozing the dairy farm and house.

He alleged that the board staff manhandled women and children present in house at the time of bulldozing.
