Two POs die in ‘shootout’

BAHAWALPUR, March 25: Police claimed to have killed two wanted criminals in a gunplay near Mauza Jhangra Bharqi in Ahmedpur tehsil, some 60kms form here on Sunday.

Sources said that a Nowshehra Jadid police party on a tip-off raided the hideout of the criminals. But they opened fire on the police, injuring constable Zafar Iqbal. Police also returned the fire that resulted in the death of ringleader Mulazim Husain alias Molazi and Abdul Majid alias Majeedi Dahar. However, their accomplices managed to escape from the scene.

Police in 45 cases of gang-rape, dacoity, robbery and murder wanted the deceased ringleader and his accomplice.
