Man killed in hit-and-run accident

ATTOCK, March 25: A man was killed on Friday after being hit by a vehicle near Hazara Chowk on the main G.T. Road, the police said.

Chaudhry Ghulam Habib was crossing the road when a speeding car knocked him down. He was taken to the Tehsil Headquarters hospital in critical condition but he could no survive.

The police have registered a case and are hunting for the car driver who escaped from the crime scene.

OUTLAWS HELD: The Fatehjang police have arrested an alleged drunkard, Mohammad Kabir, for causing public nuisance in the area. Similarly, three persons — Tariq Mehmood, Mohammad Siddique and Mohammad Bashir were taken into custody for possessing seven bottle local made liquor, a 30-bore pistol and 110 grams Hashish.

The Attock city police apprehended an alleged thief, Mehar Khan, a resident of Mirza village, on the report of local watchman — Nawasish Khan — who claimed that the accused had stolen three wooden crates of fruit from a shop near Sabzi Bazaar, Attock city.
