BADIN, March 25: District Nazim Ali Anwar Halepoto has said that the district government will not tolerate discrimination by any public or private organisations in the district against locals and in favour of outsiders in recruitment.
Mr Halepoto said talking to this correspondent on Saturday, that the locals had a legitimate right to earn a livelihood on their own soil and expressed concern over the National Commission of Human Development (NCHD) and some other public departments, which had reportedly deprived the locals of their right to jobs by recruiting outsiders through back-door.
He said that the devolution plan was enforced with promises that it would create employment opportunities for the locals but now some organisations had started importing their favourites direct into the jobs without even taking the district government into confidence.
By doing so, the organisations were not only hurting the feelings of local educated youths and putting the local bodies system in jeopardy at district level but were also blocking the promotion opportunities of their own employees, he said.
He said that the federal minister for Special Education Zubeda Jalal was apprised of such appointments during her recent visit to Badin and she had ordered to reverse the appointments and recruit locals in their place in Tawana Pakistan Programme.
RALLY: Scores of people staged a rally in protest against closure of a centre for adult education in Tando Ghulam Ali, Matli taluka on Saturday.
Jehangir Mallah and Zubair Shah who led the rally, which marched on the town’s roads before reaching the local press club, said that an NGO had opened an Adult Education Centre in the town which had a large number of villagers on its roll.
The NGO closed the centre all of a sudden without giving any reason much to the frustration of teaching staff and the adult students who could not complete their course, they said.
They also observed a token hunger strike and demanded that the centre should be reopened.
