KARACHI, March 24: City Nazim Mustafa Kamal reviewed on Saturday the arrangements being made by the city government on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Pbuh) in the metropolis, and asked the authorities concerned to finalise all arrangements three days prior to 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal.

The meeting, held at the nazim’s office, was attended by various ulema, officials of the city government, police and water board. The ulema, including Mufti Muneebur Rehman, Shah Turabul Haq and others presented their suggestions to further improve the situation.

The nazim stressed the need to eliminate sectarianism from society and observed that everyone is free to celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi.

However, he maintained that keeping in view last year’s tragic Nishtar Park bomb blast on the eve of 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, this year the government has to take stringent measures to ensure foolproof security for citizens, particularly those attending the Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations.

Mr Kamal assured ulema that the city government staff was working round the clock and all localities along the route of the 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal central procession would be cleaned three days prior to the event.

He informed the meeting that the city government has set-up an emergency centre and that it would also set-up special toll-free complaint numbers.

Besides, he said, the city government would also establish a rescue camp where it will depute officials of the fire brigade, doctors and paramedics to cope with any emergency situation.
