Gas reserves found

Published March 24, 2007

ISLAMABAD, March 23: The OMV Aktiengesellschaft, the Central Europe's oil and gas group along with its joint venture partners -- PPL and ENI – on Friday announced the discovery of gas in Latif 1 exploration well in Sindh.

According to a press release issued here, this was an additional discovery in an area where the OMV had earlier discovered two major gasfields -- Miano and Sawan, which were brought on stream in 2001 and 2003.

The recent discovery opens the potential of further discoveries in the area.

The new find and the existing infrastructure of Sawan, Kadanwari and Miano fields are located directly between markets of the country’s gas transmission and distribution companies, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines and Sui Southern Gas Company, enabling the OMV to deliver the gas to both networks.
