PESHAWAR, March 23: Foodstuff, sports goods, stationery items and national flags were distributed among tribesmen and students in various parts of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas by the army on the occasion of Pakistan Day.

According to a press release issued here on Friday, tribesmen from all walks of life joined the army, Frontier Corps and political administration in Pakistan Day celebrations in all major towns of the tribal areas, including Wana and Miramshah.

Special prayers were offered at all mosques for peace, prosperity and solidarity in the motherland.

Friendly volleyball, football and cricket matches were played between local teams and Pakistan Army at Wana, Zalai, Angoor Adda, Miramshah and Bhai Dag. The matches were witnessed by a large number of tribesmen.

A declamation contest on Pakistan Movement was held among students of local schools.

The army held a free medical camp at Miramshah, where medicines worth thousands of rupees were given to the patients free of cost.

Ulema and elders held jirgas in different areas of the tribal agencies to highlight the challenges confronted by the people of the region in the changing scenario.

The ulema urged the people to join hands with the government in its effort to eradicate terrorism form the area and assist it in undertaking development works.—PPI
