JACOBABAD, March 23: The Hindu community took out a procession here on Friday demanding quick recovery of Omparkash 8, who was kidnapped from main Bhittai Bazar six days back.

To express solidarity with the Hindu community, leaders and activists of different political and religious parties also joined the protest.

The participants of the procession, emerged from Hindu Panchayat Hall, staged a sit-in for some time at the DCO chowk after parading on different roads of the town which led to suspension of vehicular traffic. The protesters reached the press club after a while.

Carrying banners and placards, they raised slogans against police and the administration.

The major participants of the procession included, Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani MNA (PPP), Mohammad Akram Abro (Citizen Action Committee), Ahmed Ali Brohi (commerce), Srichand (Hindu Panchayat), Dr A.G.Ansari (JUI), Nadeem Qureshi (PPP-SB), Ghulam Nabi Qureshi (Sarafa), Imdadullah Bijarani (JI) and Ali Ahmed (STP).

Speaking on the occasion, Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani MNA said that it was responsibility of the government to protect life and honour of the people.

He said district administration and police had failed to check deteriorating law and order situation as no one felt safe and secure. He said six days had passed but Omparkash could still not be recovered.

Ahmed Ali Brohi said that they would continue their protests till the recovery of the missing boy.

Lamenting the lukewarm attitude of the administration, Dr A. G. Ansari said that no high official visited the house of the affected family.

Addressing the participants, Ghulam Nabi Qureshi, said that minorities felt insecure amid continued kidnappings of their near and ones.

Mr Imdadullah Bijarani, Haji Ghulam Nabi Rind, Abdul Sattar Brohi, Majeed Sarki and others also spoke on the occasion and demanded early recovery of the boy.
