KINGSTON, March 22: Former Pakistan skipper Waqar Younis on Thursday said that while Bob Woolmer’s death had come as a severe blow to all the players and officials present in the Caribbean, the coach grappled with serious health problems

“He used to have terrible breathing problems and could not sleep without a ventilator,” said Waqar who is among the twenty odd guests invited at the World Cup by the organisers.

“I remember that once his luggage, which included the ventilator, had not arrived on the day for some reason and Bob couldn't sleep the whole night. I know that exactly.”

Waqar, however, said he was not aware of the exact circumstances in which Woolmer’s body was found in th team hotel. “I don't know what exactly happened. Asif Mujhtaba told me that there was blood all over the place and he was found unconscious,” said former fast bowler. “I can't really say what exactly happened, but as far as his health was concerned, he did have a problem with his breathing.”— Agencies
