NAWABSHAH, March 21: Two assistant public prosecutors Ali Nawaz Memon and Farida Altaf Bughio resigned from their offices on Wednesday in protest over action against the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Ms Bughio said that she had made the decision for the dignity of judiciary and would present her resignation to the district attorney on Thursday.

Ali Nawaz Memon said that he had submitted the resignation to the district attorney. He said that he was with the lawyers’ community in its cause for the supremacy of judiciary and reinstatement of the CJP.

He said that he had submitted an application to the president of District Bar Association requesting him to review decision about terminating his membership as he had not attended the chief minister’s convention.

When asked, the District Attorney Gul Mohammed Sehto did not confirm or reject the news about Mr Memon’s resignation.

Our Mirpurkhas correspondent adds: The District Bar Association of Tharparkar has suspended the membership of former Tharparkar naib nazim Ram Singh Sodho for attending a lawyers’ meeting convened by the Sindh chief minister.

Sources said that the decision was taken at a meeting of the bar association held on Wednesday in Mithi.
