KARACHI, March 21: The International Organisation of Francophony observed French Speakers’ Day in Karachi at the seaside. Francophones in the metropolis and expatriates chatted away the evening in the language of Balzac, Camus, Flaubert, Hugo, Moliere, Montesquieu, Rousseau, Satre, and Voltaire.

The Director of Alliance Française de Karachi (AFK), Nino Ciccarone, appreciated the contribution of Pakistani students in the promotion of French.

Consul General Pierre Seillan said he wanted to organise a French scrabble championship in collaboration with Pakistan Scrabblers’ Association.

French is reckoned as the ninth largest language in the world.
